Deploy Custom Monitoring Script on Site24x7 probes (no LinuxAgent needed)
A feature I miss and prevents us from migrating some stuff over from alertra.com is the ability to deploy a custom (bash/python/perl) script to the monitoring probes of Site24x7. This would allow us to monitor seldom services like EPP or to implement more complex transactions to get an exhaustive monitoring of a REST-service, node.js-Thingie etc. I don't want to use a LinuxAgent, since this would require me to deploy my own probes in the cloud to get an outside view on things.
Add "Swap Utilization threshold" for Server Monitor
Please add "Swap Utilization Threshold" to the server monitor. (Configuration Profile -> Threshold and Availability -> Server monitor type) The product does a great job charting/graphing swap utilization, but does not let me trigger alarms for high swap utilization. We presently have a production issue where swap utilization is growing (free swap is dropping). We can't figure out how to make site24x7 alert us to this issue at 90% swap utilized, so we kindly ask for this new feature to be considered.
Key AWS Elastic Load Balancer metrics you need to monitor
A month back we announced public Beta monitoring for two new AWS Services - Classic type Elastic Load Balancer (ELB) and Simple Notifications Service (SNS), this included dashboards. alerting and performance reports for some of the most important metrics. This post is here to help you understand why a continuous monitoring of an Elastic load balancer is required. Monitoring your dynamic AWS cloud infrastructure and is quite complex. With AWS expanding its portfolio of services, it has become imperative
RUM alerts based on Apdex Score
It would be really nice to be able to get an alert if the Apdex score was going below .6 or some editable number.

Line Break in email template
I'd like to be able to include a line break in my email template. This would enable me to provide customized, and readable, instructions to the help desk technicians. Currently I have a template that looks like this; Search function has generated an alert. This could mean service whoozit is not working on the web host. Please check Customer Name's quick notes for response and troubleshooting information at https://documentation.com/vendor Who: $MONITORNAME What: $MONITORTYPE Downtime duration: $DOWNTIME

Never Give Up: Introducing Custom Instrumentation for APM Insight .NET agent
There is no excellence without persistence and it holds true for every developer. In continuation to my previous musings as a developer, I am delighted to share another such incident. When I had joined the company, the Java agent was already in the final stages of development. My interview was kick-started by the then team lead who wasn't an expert in the space of .NET, the exact technology for which I was being recruited for. After having to face some clichéd interview questions initially, my interview
Plugin questions
When creating a plugin, is there a way to control how the metrics will be visualized on the Web UI? For example, let's say I want to capture 5 different metrics that in the real world total up to 100 or 100%. I'd like to be able to put all 5 of those metrics on the same chart and have the values stacked. Can I do this now? Second, is there a way to tell the web-ui that I want a particular custom metric to only ever display the very last captured value? Finally, is there a way to submit non-numeric
Error while recording - Real Browser
Hi all, Im getting "Test playback failed - Script Syntax Error" almost everytim I try to add a new monitor. I added 2 without problema but now I cant. Any tips? Im missing something?
Alert only when all locations reporting response time above threshold
I'm being inundated with alerts because one or two sites are above a threshold for response time. I'd like to change it so that ALL sites must be over a threshold. I prefer this because if one or two out of eight sites are reaching my site slowly, but all others are just fine, there is likely little I can do, as it is probably caused by circumstances beyond my control. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!
Alert improvement/enhancement
Hi Site24x7, Is it possible to add a dynamic URL's when creating a new monitoring test? The dynamic URL can contain a link to a knowledge base/website. When a test fails an alert email is received. This email will contain a link (Dynamic URL) to the knowledge base/website. So people can quickly navigate to a website where a procedure is written how to solve the alert/problem. Apache plugin
I have the plugin installed, but not running. Inside /opt/site24x7/monagent/plugins/apache, The apache.py has 'Username' & 'Password'. Shall i enter credentials for root here?
Amazing at AWS re:Invent 2016!
It's been more than a week since AWS re:Invent had concluded, and we're yet to get over the excitement of all the amazing responses we?d got during the show. What an incredible event we've had this year. We're sure you had made great connections and have learned things that you can use in your business immediately. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone who had stopped by at our booth. A special shout-out goes to all our wonderful customers who had visited and interacted with
Site24x7 Customer Support is Experiencing a Slowdown.
Dear Site24x7 Customers, We believe some of you may have experienced a delay in customer service support over the last 24 hours or so. As you are aware, the customer service operations was disrupted due to the severe cyclone Vardah, which hit Chennai on the 12th of December'2016. We are slowly catching up on the support backlogs, though mobile networks remain weak. We apologize for any delay in responding to the support calls, chats or emails during this period. Please bear with us till we regain
Finding my needle in a haystack
Hi, We have a fairly busy setup - 811 individual monitors in maybe 50+ monitoring groups. A few weeks ago, we installed the agent on four servers. We failed to put them in the correct monitoring group, and now I can't find them! Or rather, it could be any of a horde of monitors, all with very similar hostnames. Is there a way to easily search for a monitor based on an AWS tag, it's host name? Is there anything on the server itself in the /opt/site24x7/monagent/conf that would tell me where in the
Has anybody in the community built their own plugin yet?
I'm new to the Site24x7 community. I have recently started to get our all of our infrastructure configured to be monitored by Site24x7. Some of the things I need to be monitored for our environment will require that I create some custom plugins. I have no technical issues with this from a development perspective -- I will be deploying on Windows OS using the DLL method. What I see from the limited exposure I have had with Site24x7's plugin framework is that it seems to be somewhat lacking. Would
Maintenance reoccuring every month
Hello, we have an IT infrastructure maintenance every month on the same Saturday (or weekend). So with the available options I have to enter that maintenance day every month again as the frequency only allows: ( ) Once ( ) Daily ( ) Weekly My questions to Site24x7 is would it be possible to include "Monthly" into the maintenance selection? But I am also interested if other Site24x7 forum users would like to have this option of monthly maintenance available. Could you reply and let us know your opinion?
New Status Page layout
I like the new layout of the status pages however, there are a few things that would make them even better... 1.) Custom logo per page. Some companies have different departments/sub companies and it would be nice to be able to create branding to match the type or checks or business sector they will be representing. 2.) For the Incident History, it would be better to have those in smaller blocks of color with the date and number of issues if there are any: Red = Services were down -> Click to see
Featured request: Deacativate ICMP Ping in RCA reports
Hello team, because of firewall and sequrity reasons our servers does not allow ping request. It would be nice if we could have the possiblity to deactivate the "ping analysis" inside the root clause analysis reports. Problem is if monitor is identified as down, RCA report will be generated and try to get ping information from our servers. This will fail for sequrity reason and will result into "false" values inside the RCA report. The ping analysis will always fail. It would be nice if we could
Pie Charts in Reports.
Hi, We've noticed that since September you no longer include Pie Charts in the reporting. We used to find these very useful for displaying availability of the monitored service. Is there any plans to reintroduce the pie charts or is there a workaround that we could use? Many thanks, Sheldon Jolly Ingenico ePayments.
Receive Alerts based on incident
Can i configure to receive alerts to different groups for different events for the same Serer Monitor Ex: 1. When Server Down: receive an alert to acb@temp.com 2. When Process Down: receive an alert to acb1@temp.com
Monitoring any AWS CloudWatch metric
Hi, today there is monitoring of specific EC2 metrics, specific RDS metrics, and specific S3 metrics. It would be helpful to monitor generic AWS CloudWatch metrics. For example, we're monitoring CloudFront, SNS, Billing, and some user-generated metrics. Thanks! Erez
Restart FTP service
Hello Forum, I'm monitoring an FTP server on a windows server. I'm using the Site24x7 FTP RTT monitor. I do not have a web server running on this box, however I would like to restart the FTP service when a threshold is met. Is there a way to do this via an execute action? Many thanks for any advice you can give. Regards Peter
Missing monitors within Status Page
I've created a new Status Page and selected several monitors. However when I view the status page only some of the monitors are displayed. I've tried removing/adding the monitors and also recreating the monitors, however they still don't show up in the Status Page. Can you please offer some advice? Thanks
Zombie Processes - CentOS
About 5 seconds after startup, the Site24x7 agent creates 40+ zombie processes, and then the system takes care of them eventually. This happens sporadically, and seems to correlate to when polls run, and happens until the agent is shut down. This is causing issues with process warning alerts, as the alerts happen repeatedly. Please take a look and let us know if there is a bugfix.
Extending Support for AWS Elastic Load Balancer - Classic (ELB) and Simple Notification Service (SNS).
From what we have learned, gaining insight into your dynamic AWS cloud environment is a complex business, where monitoring your cloud server instances (EC2) alone, can only get you so far. So in accordance, we are taking our first steps by enhancing our AWS infrastructure monitoring with an improved CloudWatch integration. Announcing public beta for two new AWS services - Classic Load Balancer (ELB) and Simple Notification Service (SNS), with this new support you can measure and monitor critical
[New feature] New RUM Snapshots aid Smart Performance Troubleshooting across Browser and Geography
An effective Real User Monitoring (RUM) solution needs to accurately measure the performance of a web application as and when it is accessed by a user. As such, RUM~should help DevOps to: Understand what is actual end-user experience Translate this data into actionable insights To enhance these capabilities, Site24x7 RUM is introducing a new feature called RUM Snapshots. RUM snapshot gives users actionable information on their web applications whenever they experience performance degradation through

Hello Team, Could you include a line in a summary page to show server last reboot time and date? Thanks, Sathish Ravi
Importing multiple checks
Read the multiple import page and had a couple questions... 1.) Do we have to list all the options in the header or just the ones we need? 2.) Can we have multiple headers if we have checks that will not use all fields? As a sub of Q2 ... Can we have empty entries for fields we do not use if we have all the header options listed? For example: website-test, http://www.zoho.com, 15, 10, Europe Location, Url MonGroup, P, F, , , , true, , , user agent, 2, "Maintenance, Troubleshooting", 0, "Down, Hacked",
Ability to associate two different notification profiles with a single monitor
We hope to see the possibility to specify two different notification profiles in one monitor, specifically one for down/trouble alert and one for up alert. This way we can specify different email templates or maybe the ability to specify two different email templates to be executed depending on the alert type. The main function would be different message when the service is down and when the service is up.
Safari: Reload the page
Hi, It's impossible for me to log in at site24x7 from Safari (OS/X). Only if I clear the cookies and cache I can do one unique login and then always the same error: Please reload the page and try again. It's annoying to switch to Chrome for only this site. Best
Testing Mode
Was thinking about this... There needs to be a non-production status that we can use for adding checks that we do not want to get alerted on as yet. For example, when adding a new check, one wants to verify that things will work properly before making it production or maybe we want to add a check that we need to study the performance so we can properly gauge what thresholds should be. Maybe have a Testing status added instead of Just Active and Suspended. With the Testing status, you can have all
RDS Free Space Alert
Hello, Would it be possible to implement an RDS Free Space alert feature in an RDS Threshold profile? We have situations where total disk space of an RDS instance is depleted and causes the DB to stop responding. Thanks!
Guidance on API Usage
I was hoping the community could point me in the correct direction. I tried to go over as much of the API documentation as I could to answer my own question before I posted this question in the forum. Maybe I'm missing something completely. At this point assume what I'm working against is a Server monitor..... Here's what I'm trying to do. I want to be able to get the last polled performance data for CPU Used Percentage, Memory Used Percentage (I can calculate the percentage if not available in percentage
custom plugin: how to configure plugin thresholds to trigger alarm notifications by email
Hi there, I wrote a custom plugin under linux / py and it works pretty well. Metrics were collected by site24x7, perfect. However, if I want to configure the threshold and want to get notified by email as soon as the limit has been reachhed. The pitty is, I can set the threshold lets say to the value 3 and this will be actually discovered by Site24x7, but the status turns just to in trouble, and... no notification will be send. So, what do I need to do that a reached plugin threshold will trigger
Check frequency does not equal log frequency
We have a website monitor set to a check frequency of 5 minutes. But in the log report, the entries are 15 minutes apart. It looks like Site24x7 is checking the site every 15 minutes instead of every 5 minutes, as we frequently get alerted by our customers that the site is down, instead of by Site24x7. Any ideas why this would be?
Monitor your Twilio usage using Site24x7 Twilio plugin
The twilio plugin informs you on the number of calls, messages or when the total price for the current day exceeds the threshold. Take informed troubleshooting decisions by keeping track of critical metrics including: Number of all inbound/outbound voice calls to mobile, toll-free and local numbers Inbound/outbound call minutes All inbound/outbound SIP call count/minutes All TwilioClient voice calls count/minutes Count of all SMS messages, both inbound and outbound Count of only inbound/outbound
