Troubleshooting Steps for VMware Monitors
Virtual Machine
To troubleshoot the VM issues, check:
- The prerequisites for vMotion to be captured by Site24x7.
- Whether the VM is deleted in vSphere.
- Whether the VM name was changed in your environment.
- Whether the associated ESXi or vCenter is polling correctly. If not, troubleshoot the ESXi host.
ESX/ESXi host
To troubleshoot the ESX/ESXi host issues:
- Check if the hostname of ESXi is changed and cross-verify that in Site24x7.
- Check if that ESXi is accessible from the On-Premise Poller installed network.
- In case of vCenter polling, check if ESXi is disconnected from vCenter.
- In the case of ESXi-based polling, check if the credential is accessible via Managed Object Browser (MOB) from a machine with On-Premise Poller installed.
ESX/ESXi hardware
- Refer to the document for troubleshooting VMware ESX hardware monitor sensor data.
vCenter/ESX
To troubleshoot vCenter and ESX host issues:
- Resolve invalid username/password errors for vCenter and ESX
Datastore
To troubleshoot the Datastore issue, check if:
- All the associated ESXi hosts are monitored.
- The name/UUID of the datastore is modified.
- The associated ESXi hosts are up. Fix the ESXi hosts if they are down.
- The necessary privileges are available to the associated ESXi monitors.
Resource Pool
To troubleshoot the Resource Pool issue, check if the associated ESXi host is polling fine. If it isn't, troubleshoot the associated ESXi host.
