How does auto-discovery of child applications work?
Applications will be auto-discovered once the
Windows or
Linux agent is installed in your server.
Auto-discovery will happen only if the option Auto discover applications on the server is set to Yes in the Settings page (Admin > Server Monitor > Settings). This is a global action across the entire account.
Alternative to this is the manual discovery of applications for each server monitor added.
Use Case:
A user has 10 servers and has disabled auto discovery of applications. Now, the user wants to discover applications in only two of the 10 servers being monitored.
Solution:
Please follow the below steps:
- In the Site24x7 web client, go to Server > Server Monitors > Servers > click on the desired monitor in which applications have to be auto-discovered.
- Click on the hamburger icon beside the display name of the server monitor.
- Select Discover Applications.
- This will add the child applications that are associated with this server.
Note: Auto discovery will be initiated only when a new server is added. New instances to already existing servers have to be discovered manually.
