Feature request - Dependency Monitors
I would really like to have an option for configuring dependencies for monitors. Consider this scenario: Lets imagine 50 (or whatever number of web applications) running at a given data center or server. If the network or server goes down, I would receive alerts/notifications for all of those web sites. It would be better if we can configure a network map (such as in Icinga) or on a simpler level, have an ability to define monitor dependencies. In my scenario described, those 50 web site monitors
Combining Cert and other basic web checks with Web checks
These two should be one check for monitoring https sites.. This way customers don't waste a full check on a cert check that only expires yearly at minimum, most people I know purchase multiple year certs so having a separate check for that is not needed. Also, site defacement and other checks that can fit in the same request should be bundled as options in the website check.
iframe feature - open in new tab when clicked
We currently have the iframe code embedded on our company website. When you click on the iframe, it loads the next Site24x7 page within the iframe itself, so it becomes a window within a window. We’re looking for a way to make the iframe open in a new tab when someone clicks on it. Per my ticket 329465, I was advised this would be a feature request and should submit this to the forum.
Provide method - see what monitors assocated with user group
Hi Support, When deleting User Groups created, at times we find that it has associated monitors error. There doesn't seem to be a way in the Site24x7 portal to find what monitors are related to User Groups. The only way to date is to raise a support ticket to have you query this on the back end. Thanks, David
Monitor Edit Screen Dropdown Sort
Hi Team, We have an issue where on new monitors some users forget to set these to fields to something we prefer. Is there a way to control the default that we can set to "MUST CHANGE" or better set the field as required (which forces them to change it)? Thank you for your consideration. Regards, David
Automatically detect active ports per server?
Hi Team - A lot of the services I need to monitor are through ports. Therefore, I am manually setting up all the ports in 24x7 that pertain to the processes I need to monitor. Is there a way to install the msiexec.exe and have it automatically detect active ports, create the Resource profile for each port, and begin monitoring? There are normally 15 ports per server I am currently configuring. Thanks!
Dependency configuration now gives you better hold over your alert credits
It would be of little use if you email your boss about your planned leave when your boss has limited access to his inbox. Its just like having butter and jam with no bread to supplement. Consider 100 network devices are mapped to a single switch or router. It would be taxing to get false alerts for all the 100 if the main switch/router goes down. This is where Site24x7 goes up an extra mile and gives you the flexibility to configure dependent monitors both at the monitor level and the monitor group
Expand your monitoring with Site24x7 Plugins
Site24x7, the all-in-one cloud based monitoring solution now provides support for more than 50 different integrations. Use our plugins and monitor a wide variety of applications and platforms such as MySQL, PostGres, Apache, NGINX, Tomcat, WebLogic, Memcached
[Announcement] Business View: Visualize your Monitor Group
Simplified dashboards improve operation efficiency. In Site24x7, when we thought of building better dashboards, we always wanted it to be simple yet intuitive. So thus born "Business View" dashboard! In a nutshell, you can get a holistic view of all the monitors in the group along with their real-time status. We intend to improve this dashboard and make it an inseparable entity in your NOC. It is just the beginning, rest assured! Also, our all new Subgrouping aids Business View dashboards to provide
Server Down Alert
If we have a regularly scheduled reboot of a server can we not have a Down alert for that incident, so for that server or a Threshold and Availability group - set the duration of time down higher to avoid the alert and only come if the server is down for longer than that. I only see setting these at a process level. Thanks.
AWS resource ARN's
Would it be possible to return the AWS resource ARN's when requesting all monitors through the API? Right now we need to compose the ARN's ourselves, which works, but it would be easier and cleaner if we could just grab the ARN from the returning JSON.
Add additional threshold criteria options
I would like to see the ability for thresholds to have more comparisons then just 'exceeds'. Less then and equal to would be a great start. Ability to set thresholds that alert if it exceeds a certain value for longer then a certain time period would also be useful in removing false positives.
Cleanup of removed instances
As it is now, EC2 instances that get deleted, are in a suspended state. I can see why that is. However, it would be nice to have the option to automatically remove resources that are no longer present. Like, every first of the month or so.
What's new in AWS infrastructure monitoring!
Extending monitoring support for DynamoDB tables and Application Elastic Load Balancer (ELB) Good day, Site24x7 community members, We are excited to announce that, our AWS infrastructure monitoring will be officially adding support for two new AWS services - DynamoDB and Application Elastic Load Balancer. With this new support, you can now auto-discover all your configured DynamoDB tables and Application Elastic Load Balancer(ELB) nodes, obtain key performance metrics, and detect performance issues
Plans for anomaly detection or outlier detection?
Hi, for server monitoring I have to define thresholds ... do you have any plans for more intelligence in your product like anomaly detection or outlier detection so I do not have to define thresholds anymore? Sven
Introducing DynamoDB and Application Elastic Load Balancer (ELB) monitoring
When you are running a complex business application on a dynamically changing cloud environment like AWS, things can get a little tricky. With multiple interconnected components powering your application, failure in any one can cascade and result in poor application performance ? leading to user frustration. Moreover, with the sheer number of services running, poor app performance can be attributed to any number of factors. From traffic spikes, instance resource constraints, to uneven ELB distribution
Status Dashboard Time Zone for Maintenance
I noticed a discrepancy when I schedule maintenance: the start/end times I enter are in my configured local time zone (ex 01:00 AM - 02:00 AM EDT (-0500)), however the status dashboard (layout 1) shows those same times 01:00 - 02:00 but states that they are in UTC as per the column header.
Include Monitor ID or URL to the standard list of Action parameters
We have actions set up to pass Site24x7 alerts through to a central alert management tool (OpsGenie in our case). The standard Incident parameters give us all the right detail about the alert but don't give us an easy way to get back to the affected monitor in Site24x7, we have to navigate there manually. I'd like to see the Monitor Summary URL passed through with all the other parameters so users can click through (they may have to log in to site24x7 first but that's fine). There is already a Link
Feature Request - SLA for High availability scenarios.
On the definition of SLA we require a way to indicate that servers or services are part of a High availability solution (Or cluster solution). This should affect SLA calculations in the following Way: Site24x7 should consider an outage only if all elements of the High availability solution are not available. Examples: This applies to create SLAs for DNS services (Multiple DNS servers), HA cluster database, etc.
Syslog and Configuration Backup for NMS
Good Afternoon, I'm requesting syslog and configuration backup features for the new NMS product. For syslog, this would be the ability to display network device log messages within the portal. For configuration backup, this would be the ability to have the poller agent back up network device configurations, similar to the Linux program Rancid. This would allow easier manageability for MSP's looking to leverage the NMS product to manage and troubleshoot customer networks. Thank you.
[Service Update] Scheduled Maintenance of our US Data Center: December 23 to December 24, 2016
Dear Users, Keeping pace with the rapid growth Zoho Corp. (Site24x7's parent company) has had means we need to scale up our infrastructure periodically. As part of this, we're planning to switch to our new US data center. This maintenance is scheduled to run from Saturday, 17 December to Friday, 23 December, 2016. Site24x7 service is expected to operate normally during this period, as we don’t expect any major service disruptions during the scheduled maintenance. Nevertheless, we will monitor things
Schedule regular maintenance on every two weeks
Hello, As we do new releases of our product on two weeks cycles we have defined as well a maintenance windows in which we do schedule the deployment of the new versions. So we would like to exclude these maintenance time windows from the availability reporting and also avoid getting alerts. To achieve this we need an option to be able to schedule maintenance on a bi-weekly basis. Currently the only possibility is only either daily or weekly. Can you please provide a feature which is allows us to
FTP RTT Monitor issues
I created this ftp monitor with and its erroring with Root Cause Analysis: File "FTP_health_checkftp-10KB.txt" does not exits to download. Which is strange because its joined the foldername and filename without a '/' in the middle. It's definitely authenticating because when I delete that txt file, site24x7 recreates it Also I have another Sftp with the same folder settings and it works perfectly So I'm not sure whats up here. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
PostgreSQL Monitoring
Are there any plans to include monitoring for PostgreSQL?
Control over Alerting
We need to be able to have more control over when alerts are triggered. Should a threshold be reached or exceeded, we should be able to tell the platform not to alert unless it stays that way for a specific time period. This will avoid false positives. We find it so frustrating that such a simple feature has not been implemented leading to our engineers being woken up in the middle of the night for alerts that are normal server behavior.
[New Feature] 5 Reasons to compare your APM Metrics
" If statistics are boring, you have got the wrong numbers." - Edward Tufte We all secretly dread that one day in our office - where we mull over mundane data, curse the crunching numbers, figure out the graphical charts and present our reports. Though we console ourselves by saying " Let the numbers do the talking," in reality, we don't infer much from our reports. Reports play a vital role in enhancing your application's performance over time. But how do we get valuable insights from those tricky
View Scheduled Maintenance by Monitor or Group
Rather than viewing the calendar for maintenance it would be nice to go to a group or single monitor and view a list of scheduled maintenance for it.
Static Timezones for created items
In attempting to setup weekly/monthly maintenance for our customers, across multiple timezones, I discovered an oddity. When created a maintenance (scheduled report and other items with a timestamp,) I found that the timestamp (start/stop) is only static in its "time" and not in its timezone. Example: My account is set to Central. I create a maintenance for midnight Central. If at any time the account timezone is modified the maintenance is now scheduled for midnight of the new timezone. If the account
How to add custom logo on status page?
I am using option of hosted status page by site24x7. But it shows logo of site24x7. I am not able to find option to show my own brand logo and configure hyper link of logo? please advise.
Support PHP CLI
I think is common have "cronjob" for PHP and use the PHP without web. In this case the Site24x7 is useless, the Site24x7 not support the PHP CLI. If run a PHP using, for example: php /path/to/file.php This will not be detect by Site24x7!
Maintain APM history after agent move
I recently had to replace a server that had the APM agent running. I've installed the agent on the new server, but I have now lost all the history associated with the previous agent. How do you maintain this from server to server?
Availability Dashboard
Currently there are a few dashboard that can be created. Something that we are finding needed and not available (as far as I have looked) is an availability dashboard.. Would be nice to have a dashboard that shows Monitor Name - Status - Availability % With intervals of 1, 5, 15, 30, 60 minute intervals as options. A table would work ... But I think that buttons would look way nicer and allow full page use... Edit: Changed reports to dashboard
Security Monitoring for failed ACL/Firewall Rule
Looking for an inverse monitor that I can point to a particular host/IP and be alerted when a successful connection is made. This will allow me to alert if an ACL/Firewall has failed and the service is open to the internet.
Clearer API Output
Currently when we Activate or Suspend a check via the api we get the following response: HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Content-Type:application/json;charset=UTF-8
{
"code": 0,
"message": "success",
} It would be nice to be able to get the check name in the response so we know which ones are successful and which ones fail, something like this: HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Content-Type:application/json;charset=UTF-8
{
"code": 0, "name": "Website Name" "message": "success",
}
Monitor Status on Performance Threshold breach
Option to configure "Down" severity for performance threshold breach has been dropped. Performance threshold breaches will be reported as Trouble Status only. Kindly share your feedback regarding this.
Memory usage on FreeBSD
Hey there, we just configured the server monitoring on our FreeBSD server. But the agent reports there is a memory usage of always above 85%. We have 8 GB of RAM / memory installed on the server. Right now we are using Zabbix also on the server. Zabbix shows us a usage of roughly < 50% of the memory. Why is there such a big difference? Why is Site24x7 reporting such a high usage? The command "top" on our server shows us right now the data like this "Mem: 1098M Active, 4204M Inact, 2189M Wired, 4376K
Web RUM filter; allow exclusion/inclusion of pages/domains
We've several sub-domains accessed from our main site and the way we have to include the RUM client causes some of these sub-domains to be monitored. Some of these domains, or specific pages within the domain, we do not want to monitor. Some or parts of these domains, that we do not want to monitor, are consuming RUM page views. It would be great if we could exclude some of these sub-domains from being monitored by RUM. Having a central storage of exclusions/inclusion would be better than making
Three key metrics for monitoring AWS SNS performance and usage.
Well if you have already read our blog on important ELB metrics to monitor, you will know that, along with ELB another AWS service Simple Notification Service (SNS) was also added to our monitoring capabilities. This post will talk about the importance of your SNS environment and metrics you should consider monitoring. Communication is necessary to maintain operational efficiency in your AWS cloud infrastructure. Your application's ability to interact with and transmit data to other aspects of AWS
Deploy Custom Monitoring Script on Site24x7 probes (no LinuxAgent needed)
A feature I miss and prevents us from migrating some stuff over from alertra.com is the ability to deploy a custom (bash/python/perl) script to the monitoring probes of Site24x7. This would allow us to monitor seldom services like EPP or to implement more complex transactions to get an exhaustive monitoring of a REST-service, node.js-Thingie etc. I don't want to use a LinuxAgent, since this would require me to deploy my own probes in the cloud to get an outside view on things.
Add "Swap Utilization threshold" for Server Monitor
Please add "Swap Utilization Threshold" to the server monitor. (Configuration Profile -> Threshold and Availability -> Server monitor type) The product does a great job charting/graphing swap utilization, but does not let me trigger alarms for high swap utilization. We presently have a production issue where swap utilization is growing (free swap is dropping). We can't figure out how to make site24x7 alert us to this issue at 90% swap utilized, so we kindly ask for this new feature to be considered.
