chained thresholds and IT automations
Hi folks, has anyone set up a "chained" or "escalating" responses to, let's say, an outage? You can set up multiple automations, but I want them to occur in a waterfall fashion. For example: -- If apache fails (threshold), then start apache service (IT automation) -- -- If that doesn't succeed, then restart the server (IT automation) -- -- -- If that doesn't succeed, then restart AWS EC2 instance (IT automation) Anyone set something like this up? Can you share your setup? Or, where do I start? Thanks!
best practice for monitoring apache/webserver
Hi folks, I noticed that there are a few different ways you can monitor a web server (apache) for downtime. I'm not sure what's the best practice, so I appreciate any feedback. So let's say you want to monitor for Apache for failure, and set an IT automation for "start." For example you can: Set up a Website monitor Set up a Server monitor Set up a Server monitor >> and target the apache process Set up a Server monitor >> and target the apache plugin Is any one method better than another since they
Ability to pull Names instead of only IDs from API
When using the API, the only options to get some information out is by using IDs which is not user-friendly. When exporting data from the GUI the information is populated with the actual names for things and it would be awesome to be able to get those via the API. Some examples are: VIA EXPORT VIA API notification_profile_name notification_profile_id location_profile_name location_profile_id monitor_groups monitor_groups user_group_names user_group_ids We are always running custom reports for our
APM Insight - Export CSV
Hi all, We would like to have this function for all views. At moment there is a Pdf Export, but it's no enough for our reasoning. Best regards, Mirko
[Feature enhancement] Flawlessly import and set up thousands of monitors in minutes.
As you may already know, manually configuring monitors is relatively time-intensive, especially when you’re creating thousands of monitors. Site24x7 offers a novel solution to this problem with its CSV file import feature. Today, we’re delighted to announce that we've made some updates to the template-based import monitor feature to make setting up monitors even simpler. What's changed with the new import feature? Site24x7 lets you export your complete monitor setup in a CSV file. Similarly, the

VMware Datastore Monitoring: Effectively manage storage requirements in virtualized environments
Why are datastores important in a vSphere environment? In a vSphere environment, VMware datastores act as virtual storage for virtual machines (VMs), meaning they need to be monitored for effective resource allocation. What types of datastores does Site24x7 monitor? VMware datastores are logical, virtual containers, which are similar to file systems. Based on the storage types, datastores are backed by one of two file formats—Virtual Machine File Storage (VMFS) or Network File System (NFS). Site24x7
Tip #36: Monitor critical metrics using App Parameters
In general, you can monitor the performance of your application using default parameters like response time, throughput, errors, exceptions, etc. However, to monitor how your users interact with your application or application-specific parameters, you need some additional metrics. Consider a ticket booking application—its performance is monitored using the parameters mentioned above. But to monitor application-specific metrics such as the number of tickets booked in a day, the number of users logging

Can't make RealBrowser to work on a linux on premise Poller
Hello, As the title says, we are trying to make some checks with RealBrowser on a a on premise poller (the site we are monitoring is only accessible from our Network, so we need to use on premise poller). But we never get any data from the monitor we set up on the poller. While investigating, we found that the realbrowser agent was failing to start, we were able to correct the startup script to make it start (you may want to publish an updtate for that) but alas, that wasn't enough to make it work
Tip #35: Assess the end user experience by integrating RUM with APM Insight
With APM Insight, you can identify and troubleshoot bottlenecks in your application. However, the way your application affects your end users might still remain a mystery. This is where real user monitoring (RUM) comes in handy. With RUM, you can assess how your end users interact with your application in real time. Even if your application appears to work fine, there are various reasons why it may not be rendering properly for your customers, including browser issues, responsiveness across various
Better Polling and Alerting
Site24x7 currently offers a system of polling where there is a primary location and then up to x# of secondary pollers, for many companies that offer services in different areas and now with the advent of cloud computing where you have regions that your services are fed from it would be great to move away from this idea of customers only being in a certain area and start treating monitoring as it should, "Is my service available from any of the locations that my customers are in at any time." The
Plugin - HTTP Error raised
Hello, I want to write my own plugin in shell. It should be easy plugin reporting actual disk usage (purpose is ability to monitor multiple threshold for one partition ). I need tu start my script with parameter. Similar way as nagios plugin, so I cant use this step from plugin guide. ================= Create a folder under the Plugins directory in the agent installation path and place the plugin script file and other dependency files here. The name of the folder and the plugin script file should
Re-use Subgroups Across Multiple Monitoring Groups?
I would like to combine multiple resources into subgroups and then use these across multiple monitoring groups. Is this possible? It seems like I have to recreate the subgroups within each parent monitoring group each time. This seems highly inefficient and prone to error.
Smart monitor groups
hi there, a useful feature update, would be the ability to add smart monitor groups, based on wildcard names of servers, or other attributes. For example, we have a load of servers on a location in Manchester, our naming convention means all the server names start with MCR-* and having them all automatically add to a Manchester monitor group would be really useful. C.
Autoupdate the status page
Hi all , Thank you site24*7 for auto update status page feature, but i feel you should add few more option or feature for the status page. Here are the few suggestions. suggestion 1. The message which you updating that does not have complete information Example: You message is "Intermittent access issue in -__________ Service for 2 Mins 52 Secs" Here the question raise for what time to what time service was down??? As the status page is for end-users so message should have clear. suggestion 2. You
Automatic Configuration for Azure
When adding monitors you provide AWS users with the ability to tag their vm's with a specific key value pair that is read by S247 and the group is created and the monitor applied. www.site24x7.com/help/admin/monitor-groups.html : Automatic Configuration (AWS resources only) Is it possible to achieve the same either by the same process or, via the agent that can take a group tag parameter to achieve the same result - FOR AZURE?
Docker Names
Currently, the Docker name is based on an FQDN. These FQDN are auto-generated by AWS. Resulting in no way to determine what containers are in a Docker without drilling down to see into a Docker. 1) So I suggest having the Docker name based on EC2 name with the word Docker in front. Then have the FQDN under this name. This naming convention would mirror the way ECS instances are named in 24x7 2) We also need to have a disk utilization metric for Dockers inside the containers so an alert can be generated.

Cannot modify existing Scheduled Maintenance record - insufficient permissions
Hello everyone! Has anyone encountered such problem: when I change in the scheduled maintenance record that was created earlier by another user, the system issues a message about the absence of rights to this action? When I try to change (add new servers) to existing entry, I get the message "You do not have permission to access the added resource". It happening despite the fact that I have 'Super Admin' permission. What are the reasons for this behavior? Aleksey.S
Add inventory fields to create inventory Report
Hi. We requiere to create an inventory report of all our servers. Basically a list with all our servers and the following fields: OS (Operating System), Disk Space Installed (This is the one field i have not found on site24x7 but it must be there), Ram Installed (Installed Memory), CPUs Installed (Number of CPU Cores(Logical) x Processor) For some reason this fields are not available on custom reports. Can you include them?
Tip #34: Use a single template in APM Alerts for various APM monitors
In APM Insight, you can configure alerts at the application level. You can choose to receive alerts if there's a threshold breach in any of the following parameters: application response time, error count, error rate, and exception count. You can choose one or all four parameters while configuring your alerts. You also don't need to configure alerts with the same specifications for every APM Insight application. Instead, save yourself the time and use existing APM alert templates if you'd like to
site24x7 freelancer?
Hi folks, I’m looking for a site24x7 freelancer who could audit my monitors and make sure I’m set up correctly. Nothing too complicated...make sure my linux monitor and services are setup. Some AWS checks as well. IT automations if anything fails to restart. I’d rather ask the community here for a referral, I hope that’s ok. Thanks! Kris
Making Site24x7 more in line with DevOps
As more companies move toward CI/CD there is the point of automating the monitoring process by putting the process of adding, updating and removing monitors and maintenance windows into the automation process. Would be nice if Site24x7 revamped the API/Automation process to follow the tools people are using for automation like Chef, Puppet or Spinnaker (www.spinnaker.io/ is what we are moving to).
Issue when trying to use API with response codes
In the API documentation, it shows that when a call is made there is always a response code that is returned either a 0 or some other non zero code. support for .net agent 3.7
Hi, I'm using .net agent 3.7 but I'm NOT using .net 2.0 and I am NOT using versions of TLS prior to 1.2. Are you discontinuing support for all versions of the .net agent that are earlier than 4.0? or are you only discontinuing support for the agent if you're actively using .net 2.0 or a version of TLS prior to 1.2?
Sending http status code and other monitoring metrics (not in incident parameters) through webhook integration
I can send the following incident parameters through a webhook integration. MONITORNAME MONITOR_GROUPNAME SEARCH POLLFREQUENCY:1 MONITORTYPE:URL STATUS:DOWN TIMEZONE:Asia/Calcutta INCIDENT_TIME:July 24, 2018 6:43 PM IST INCIDENT_REASON:Host Unavailable However, I would like to send also the https_status_code, response time (may be the full list of monitoring parameters). How can I do that?

[Service Update] Scheduled Maintenance of our US Data Center: July 7th, 2018 – 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM PST
Dear Customers,
We've planned to upgrade our primary data center infrastructure in the USA on July 7th, 2018 from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM PST. This upgrade will help us support our expanding server farm more efficiently.
For a seamless service during the maintenance, we'll be temporarily switching Site24x7 service to our secondary data center. We do not anticipate any interruptions in using Site24x7's service during this period. Nonetheless, we'll still monitor things very closely and keep you posted
Mobile App Notifications
Our scenario is that we have 2 teams sharing Site24x7, we do not want to receive notification from the app relating to the other teams monitors. Is it possible to decide which monitor you want to receive notifications for? Would it be easier to have a separate account for each team? If we did have separate accounts would we be able to log into the app with multiple accounts if needed?
FTP Test: User Specified File in Directory
Currently the Site24x7 FTP tests relies on their specific test file, some systems are setup to purge unspecified files or filetypes preventing this option from working (or worse, requiring a degradation of security to facilitate). That ability to specify a specific file known to be present in the directory would bypass this issue and maintain security.
Synthetic Monitor with PopUp window or New Tab
When dealing with Synthetic monitoring for services that have a step where either a new window or tab is involved after an action is taken the monitor fails to record the resulting new page. Would be nice to have the recorder be able to handle this type of scenario since this is possible with Selenium which the recorder is based on... Here is an example I found online of dealing with this cenario: # filename: new_window.py
import unittest
from selenium import webdriver
class Windows(unittest.TestCase):
