Is there a work-around for enabling client-server data communication, if TLS 1.2 version is not available?
Yes, in case you have older versions of TLS installed, please follow the steps below to ensure uninterrupted data collection.
This workaround applies only to Windows Server 2003 and 2008.
- Download the appropriate file based on your OS architecture:
32-bit: http://staticdownloads.site24x7.com/server/WinCommunicationExt32.zip
64-bit: http://staticdownloads.site24x7.com/server/WinCommunicationExt64.zip  Rename the downloaded file:
Change the file name to WinCommunicationExt
Do not change or add to the .zip extension. For example, if you downloaded WinCommunicationExt64.zip, just rename it to WinCommunicationExt.zip. The renamed file should not be WinCommunicationExt.zip.zip.
Move the renamed file to the Site24x7 Windows agent installation directory - C:\Program Files\Site24x7\WinAgent
Update the registry:
Open regedit.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\ManageEngine\Site24x7WindowsAgent\Monitoring\
Set the value of UseCommunicationExt to true.
Navigate to the path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Site24x7\WinAgent\monitoring\conf\
Check if the folder named script-output is present within the above directory.
If the folder does not exist, create a new folder named script-output
Restart the Site24x7 Windows Agent service:
Open services.msc.
Locate the Site24x7 Windows Agent service.
Right-click and select Restart.
Verify optimal monitoring:
Wait 5-10 minutes.
Confirm that the monitor status changes to UP and data collection has resumed successfully.
This will ensure the Windows server monitoring agent continues to perform data collection, even if TLS 1.2 is not installed in your servers.
