Alerting for disk usage thresholds

How does alerting work for disk utilization thresholds configured for server monitors?

Threshold values for disks can be set in three ways in the Site24x7 web client. Log in to Site24x7 and go to:
  • Admin > Configuration Profiles > Threshold and Availability. Set thresholds under Disk Utilization Threshold to set a threshold value for the entire disk.
  • Admin > Configuration Profiles > Threshold and Availability. Set thresholds under Partition Disk Utilization Threshold to set a common threshold value for all partitions.
  • Server > Server Monitor > Servers > click on the server monitor > Disks. Set thresholds for an individual disk partition using the pencil icon under Action.
When there is a combination of the above threshold configurations, priority-based alerting comes into picture. Learn more
Alerting for Disk Utilization Threshold:
The disk utilization threshold is calculated as the sum of total used space by the sum of total free space. If the disk utilization threshold is set to 90%, a TROUBLE alert will be sent to the user when the set value is breached.

Alerting for Partition Disk Utilization Threshold:
The partition disk utilization threshold is calculated as the used space by free space of an individual disk. If the partition disk utilization threshold is set to 90%, a check will be done for each partition individually and if any of the partitions exceed the given value, an alert would be sent to the user.

Alerting for Individual Disk Partitions:
The threshold is set for an individual disk partition alone, example: '/ partition'. Only when the used space by free space of the partition '/' exceeds the given threshold value, an alert would be sent to the user. You can also set multiple thresholds for a single partition.
Note: Alerts will not be sent for partitions that are not configured, even if there is a threshold violation.
Use the Skip Alerts option (click on the pencil icon under Actions) if you want to get monitored only for the root partition and not the other partitions in your disk.
