Exclude a child application from monitoring

How to exclude a particular child application from monitoring?

It is possible to exclude specific child metrics/resources like disk usage, network adapters, IIS applications, SQL databases, and more from monitoring. Please follow the steps below:

Use the Threshold Configuration option under every child application across all monitor types to enable this feature. Please follow the steps below:
  1. Go to the desired child application like Disk usage, IIS application pool, SQL database etc
  2. Click on Threshold Configuration at the top right corner of the table
  3. Enable the Ignore Alert toggle button to Yes
  4. This will exclude that particular resource from monitoring. No alerts will be sent
Use Case:
A user has an IIS server installed for monitoring. By default, the user has few of the application pools offline. So frequent alerts are sent and the server status is changed to trouble. The user will want to exclude these application pools from monitoring to avoid frequent alerts.

Solution:
The user can choose the option Ignore Alert for the application pools that has to be excluded from monitoring. This will include only the applications that need to be monitoring and will send alerts only when these application pools are down.
