FAQs related to SQL cluster monitoring

Please find below some common FAQ's related to the migration from stand alone SQL servers to SQL failover cluster: 
  1. Will my SQL clusters be monitored automatically now that you have released the feature?
    Yes, with an upgrade to the agent's latest version 18.0.0, your SQL cluster will automatically be marked up for monitoring.

  2. I now have an active node and three passive nodes being monitored, as four separate monitors. How will they be monitored after an upgrade?
    Once upgraded to agent version 18.0.0, all the four monitors will be treated as a single monitor. The remaining three monitors will be suspended and you can only view historical data for these monitors.

  3. My SQL server is clustered, but it is added in the Site24x7 web client as a standalone monitor. How do I correct this?
    Log in to Site24x7 and go to Server > Server Monitor > Servers > click on the associated server monitor. Beside the display name, hover on the hamburger icon and click on Discover Applications. This will automatically convert the standalone SQL monitor to SQL cluster monitor. 
    Note - If there is a cluster monitor already being monitored by Site24x7, then this monitor will be added to the already added cluster, and not as a new cluster monitor. 

  4. In case I do not have any add ons left, what will be the current state of my monitors?
    By default, if you have a free "Advanced Monitor" in your account, the migration will automatically consume that license. You will need to take no extra action. To check how many Advanced Monitors you have left in your account, go to Admin > Subscriptions.
    For those who do not have any add-ons left, we are offering time till September 30th, 2017 to upgrade your account. Post that, your monitors will be suspended when you make changes to it.

  5. Now that you have introduced SQL cluster monitoring, what will happen to my stand alone SQL monitors?
    They will be monitored like before. There will be no loss of data, but only a licensing change. Microsoft SQL server monitor will be treated as an Advanced Monitor.
