Fixing catastrophic failure issues when installing Windows On-Premise Poller

What is a catastrophic failure in Windows?
Catastrophic failure is the complete, sudden, and unexpected breakdown in a machine, indicating improper maintenance. More often, this is caused by missing system files and broken system registry structures.
How to fix a catastrophic failure
- Navigate to All Users from your Windows machine.
For Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users
For Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8/Windows 10/Windows Server: C:\Users\Public - In the All Users folder, right-click Shared Documents or Public Documents and select Properties.
- In the General tab, uncheck the Read-only checkbox.
- Click either Apply or OK.
- Go to the Security tab. Under Group or user names, select Administrators.
- Under Permission for Administrators, ensure that Deny is not checked for anything. If yes, uncheck it.
For Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8/Windows 10: Click Edit and apply the same changes. - Verify if Allow is checked for Full control. If not, check it.
For Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8/Windows 10: Click Edit and apply the same changes. - Repeat steps 6 and 7 for all other entries under Group or user names.
- Click Apply, then OK.
- Go to Start, type %Temp%, and press Enter. Alternatively, navigate to C:\Users\<user account>\AppData\Local\Temp. Delete all the folders and files here.
- Go to Windows Explorer at C:\Windows\Temp, and delete all the files under the Temp folder.
- This is optional. If you wish to update, go to Start, type Windows Update, and press Enter. Select Check for updates, then check and install all important updates.
- Reboot your system.
- Re-install the On-Premise Poller.
If the issue persists, try installing it on a different version of Windows OS.
