Fix Authentication Failed Error When Viewing Child Database Monitors in Site24x7

Why am I getting an Authentication Failed error while trying to view the child database monitors?

When you try to view child database monitors, including Oracle PDBs, Oracle tablespaces, Microsoft SQL Server individual databases, MySQL databases, and PostgreSQL databases, you may encounter an Authentication Failed or You are not authorized to perform this operation error in the Site24x7 web console.

This occurs when the logged-in user lacks sufficient access privileges to view the child monitors associated with the parent database monitor.
To resolve this, an admin must grant access to the required monitor group.

How to grant access and fix the issue

  1. Log in to Site24x7.
  2. Navigate to Admin > User & Alert Management.
  3. In the Users & Alerts page, click the username you want to update.
  4. In the Edit User form, go to Allowed to Access > Monitor Groups.
  5. Click the dropdown and select the System-Generated Monitor Group of the parent database instance.
  6. Save your changes.
Once this is done, the user will automatically gain permission to view all child monitors associated with that database instance.
