Additional monitor status based on number of down locations if less than down count
Currently, we only have the ability to set a monitor as down from x number of locations. Like if a monitor is down from 3 locations, consider it down. It would be awesome to have an option where we could set trouble if down from less than the down setting so we can troubleshoot if we can't get to a monitor from some locations only. We don't want to hand down a monitor if less than 3 locations but we still want to know if we can't get to it from any location. * Make the alerts go to the admins set
Tip #26: Bulk install the .NET agent across Active Directory
If your .NET application is hosted in more than one server, configuring the APM Insight .NET agent for every single server would be time-consuming. In those cases, you can install the .NET agent using the Bulk Installation Tool instead. This allows you to install the .NET agent across multiple servers in an Active Directory network simultaneously. And don't worry, the bulk installation tool retains the same agent configuration when deploying your .NET agent across your Active Directory servers. Go
Version Controlled Monitors
Hello, I'd like to request a feature to go along with the Import/Export feature. The goal in mind would be to sync monitors with API calls or similar through a defined CSV/JSON/etc using the standard import/export format that we version control through a git repository. When "syncing" this version controlled CSV, anything that is not contained with the CSV would be removed from the monitoring list if it exists, anything that is in the list will be added if it does not already exist, and anything
Website RUM Snapshot Schedule
Hi I have monitoring on some websites and I can see the ability to Snapshot performance results. Is there a method to schedule snapshots based on time, or possibly activity thresholds ? or am I missing the point of a Snapshot in this process? Thanks Tony
Triggering IT Automation from Server Resource Check(s)
I submitted a case in regards to a lacking feature of the IT Automation capabilities. I feel everyone could greatly benefit from the ability to choose a specific automation to trigger from each individual server check, rather than the blanket trigger for the failure of any check. Here is the response I received. Hi Chris, Thank you for your valuable feedback. Currently the IT Automation can be assigned at the entire check level and not at each check level. This is an expected behavior. However, we
Feature enhancements: Real User Monitoring
Greetings, We're back with a new set of enhancements for Real User Monitoring (RUM) and are giving you a sneak peek. You can now visualize the following aspects of response time and throughput: Country and state-based views for respective geographies: You can now view the response time and throughput for a country and each of its states individually. For example, you can view metrics for Australia as a whole on the world map, or view metrics for the northern and southern regions in the Australia
Site24x7 discontinues SMS service with Route Mobile
Dear customers, At Site24x7, we’ve been using multiple third-party carriers such as BulkSMS, Twilio, Clickatell and Route Mobile for delivering SMS-based alerts to our users. Effective May 25, 2018, we will discontinue Route Mobile service due to the low usage among users. As a replacement, we’ve successfully migrated all existing Route Mobile users to Twilio. Other third-party SMS carriers will continue to work as usual. To ensure a seamless alerting during a failure or service outage with your
How do we use DSC to install the agent?
Hey Team, I can see in www.site24x7.com/community/proposed-feature-development-roadmap that "Currently we can push the Site24x7 agent out to servers using windows DSC which is great", however, I can't find any actual documentation on this topic. Could someone please point us in the right direction? Cheers, Alex
Tip #25: Assess your website's performance across various devices and browsers
A website may not always perform consistently across all devices and browser types. Site24x7 helps in assessing this performance latency with Real User Monitoring (RUM). Something as simple as a software enhancement or a version update could cause a spike in the response time of your web application. This is why you should track trends in your web application's life cycle on different devices (mobile phones, laptops, tablets, etc.) and browser types (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) across multiple
Site24x7 gets ready for the GDPR
With the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into effect on May 25, 2018, we at Site24x7 have been rolling out a number of changes to ensure we meet the guidelines. We're committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of the data our customers share with us. That's why we'd like to share some insight about all the important GDPR-related measures we've put in place to ensure compliance. Please read on for a quick summary of all our GDPR related updates. AWS Monitoring service disruption
Dear Site24x7 customers, Today at 12.40 AM IST (23 May 2018) all the AWS accounts that were integrated via the Role ARN experienced unexpected downtime. On further inspection, we found that our principal AWS account that is allowed access to your resource got suspended due to a failure in the credit card auto-renewal process. Our finance team has already paid the past-due payments manually and are currently involved in the process of reactivating our account. We're also trying to put in measures
Monitoring Mail Server and Database availability of ManageEngine Service Desk Plus product using Site24x7
ManageEngine Service Desk Plus is an ITSM product which solves day-to-day IT problems for businesses. Proper functioning of critical components such as Mail Servers and Databases are important for the proper functioning of Service Desk Plus. Any failure to any of these components could trigger user frustration. Continuous monitoring of their availability should be done to ensure the product health is always good. Site24x7, a cloud monitoring tool provides the ability to keep a watch on the above
Scheduled Maintenance for "Last" Day of a Month
Some months have more than 4 weekends. We patch on the last Sunday of the month - sometimes that's the 5th Sunday. Currently, there's no way to include this last Sunday, as the option is only for 4th days.
Anyone succesfually able to push Site 24x7 monitors/alerts/api to AWS Cloud Watch?
We are looking to have Site 24x7 as our primary monitoring application, but in order to have AWS / Rackspace support us should a custom Windows Service STOP we need to get that alert INTO AWS Cloudwatch. Has anyone successfully completed this with Site 24x7 and AWS cloudwatch command line parameters? (push alert INTO Cloud Watch)
Troubleshooting SSL handshake spikes
Does any one else have SSL handshake spikes with the website monitor? and a way to troubleshoot them on nginx? I have noticed this more from some testing locations than others and at times correlates to DNS and response time spikes, which could indicate issues with the testing location or the way it's measured. Any ideas on what could be causing these?
Provide ability to filter out outlying data points from Web Page Speed (Browser) reports
The web page speed (browser) monitors occasionally have suspect values like negative page load times or times longer than the timeouts. There should be a function for users to filter out such outliers.
Tip #24: Manage your application and instance configurations easily
Your application may have multiple instances and configuring the agent settings for each instance individually can be cumbersome. In APM Insight, you can configure the same agent settings for your choice of all or just selected instances. This gives you the flexibility to easily monitor your instances the way you want. To change your instance configurations, click Edit Agent configuration in APM Insight. Click Select all if you want to apply the same configuration to all instances, or choose specific
Root Cause Analysis for the Monitor
when a server goes down and the comes back up I like the "Root Cause Analysis for the Monitor" email but could some work go into it so that the "Down Reason" is more useful. I have noticed on when a server is rebooted the down reason was "Site24x7WindowsAgent could not establish communication with the Server". Would it be possible for this root cause option could check the server out to see what's happened (including the event log) to see why it was off?
Can i monitor "normal" computers, too?
Hey, is it possible to monitor Windows 7 or 10 machines with the server agent? If not, is it planned to monitor normal PCs, too? Greetings, Max
Percentile Averages
Please add percentile averages in graphs and widgets, so I can quickly view 95th and 99th percentile latency values for my monitors. Percentiles avoid skewing averages by omitting outlier values from the data, and are used heavily in the industry for latency SLAs. It may be worthwhile to add these values to reports as well.
Tip #23: Figure out the root cause of exceptions by inspecting their stack trace
At times, application transactions may be successful but throw exceptions internally. For instance, consider a transaction where information is usually retrieved from the cache. Should a problem arise with the cache, the information is instead retrieved from the database, marking a successful transaction. But on the downside, extracting this information from the database instead of the cache increases the response time of the application and slows down your app. In such cases, analyzing the stack
Monitoring via LwM2M
Wondering if any plans in the roadmap to support LwM2M as mean to monitor IOT devices?
Start monitoring the full range of Kinesis services with Site24x7
Once again, we're making it easier to observe and receive alerts on what's happening in your AWS Cloud environment, this time with four brand new cloud service integrations. With complete monitoring support for each Amazon Kinesis service—Data Streams, Video Streams, Data Firehose, and Data Analytics—you get end-to-end insight into your data pipeline, from source to destination. For Site24x7 customers using the Kinesis platform, this means improved insights into the resource usage of your real-time
AppLogs Pricing and Docker Logs support
Congratulations on the new release. Any plans to support Docker log ingestion? Also what is the pricing for AppLogs, is it per GB? Thanks
Tip #22: View response time changes in real time using RUM Playback
Analyze the response time of your application over various time periods and geographies with Real User Monitoring (RUM) Playback. You can choose a time period and view the gradual changes in response time across various regions with RUM Playback. You can also stop, pause, and analyze response times while the Playback is being rendered. This helps you discover subtle performance changes over various geographies.
Resource Process/Service Templates
Hi Team, We are a Managed Services Provider. As we have to manage many of the same types of servers for different customers. It would be nice to have templates that we can apply to a bunch of servers at once (or at setup to ensure same) vs having to setup one by one. Example: We have x customers with IIS web servers. On a typical IIS server we would need to monitor process x, y, and z. So ideally as we get a new customer with IIS, we can just pick a template as part of setup so that it has all the
Expanded output on group Outages page
Would like to ask if there is a way to get a reason column on the group outages page? Currently, it lists outages but no reason, so I need to move away from the outages page and open each monitor individually to see what the issues are that are listed.
Read-only client agent mode
We have clients that want to be assured that we do not have the power to restart their services & processes. If the client agent had an option (set on the client itself) to disallow any actions, such as starting/stopping a service or process, then that would llow us to assure the client that we can't make changes are are, in-fact, just doing monitoring.
Network Mount Point
Is there plugin that can be used with the on-premise poller to check for network points Example would want to check the following on Windows Servers \\Server\
Third Party Integration by Monitor Type
It would be nice to have more options for adding or removing monitors from third party integrations. For instance with a PagerDuty integration, we have two options. Either select all monitors or individually select each monitor. It would be nice to have an option for monitor type and/or monitor group .
Top Log Monitoring Tools
Log files are vital to your organization. From helping organizations troubleshoot IT issues, to investigating security incidents, to locating an application error or isolating an underperforming component, the information that you need to make your life
Disable Down alerts for Server groups
Hi I would like to know how to disable Down alerts (more precisely call alerts) for specific Server Group or Monitor. I know that can be disable at the user lvl but we have Production and DR environments being monitored. I don't want users to get notifications from DR but still get notifications for Production, if I disable at user lvl they wont get any. So how can I do this? Any tip? Thanks
Override cpu and memory thresholds
Right now, one can easily override Threshold and Availability profiles on monitor level for disk space. For example, one can set this on profile level: And then on monitor level do this to override that value: This is great, because one can override this profile setting on a more specific level. It would be even better if we could do the same for Memory and CPU thresholds. So configure let's say 85% CPU on profile level, but override that on monitor level for one specific monitor. The way to do it
kannel monitoring
To monitor kannel/smpp traffic
Tip #21: Identify where SQL queries are being slowed down
Slow performing SQL queries can be identified and pinpointed with the help of stack traces. Whenever your queries exceed the specified threshold limit, their stack trace is captured by the APM Insight agent, which can be viewed in the corresponding transaction trace. This helps you find out which methods yield slowly executed queries. The stack trace of SQL queries can be viewed under the Traces tab.
Add a process or service to a server monitor by api
When we spin up servers we want to be able to add the specific services/processes that are important to that server to be actively monitored. For instance, say we are spinning up a filemaker service on a windows server, we want that filemaker service to be monitored & we just need to make sure it is monitored so if it crashes or stops we can be alerted.
Schedule Maintenance start time = now
Would it be possible to add a checkbox next to the start time box when scheduling a new maintenance window that updates the time to be exactly "now" (including the seconds). I have sysadmins that want to take something down and having them have to wait 1 to 2 minutes because the interface is lacking makes them grumble. See below for an example of what this would look like:
Change scheduled maintenance window once it is active
It would really be nice if we could change a scheduled maintenance window while it is active. Suppose you are in the process of doing maintenance and you have a 4 hour maintenance window set up. After 3 hours you are done and you would like to see Site24x7 start testing again so you can confirm everything is okay before you go home. The only way I can see to do that is to completely delete the maintenance window. I would like to keep the maintenance window there for historical reasons. Is there some
Feature Request: AWS Configuration Template
Hello, Can you please implement an AWS Monitor configuration template? When AWS resources are discovered, they are automatically given the User Alert Group settings that are on the main AWS Monitor. That is great. However, the newly discovered AWS resources are not assigned to any Monitor Group by default. This causes problem for our customers who use DevOps and Continuous Integration processes where AWS resources are created/destroyed on demand with each "release". Specifically, they can no longer
Using Actions with Windows servers?
We're not clear how to implement Actions with our Windows servers. For instance, we use Server Monitors to monitor services and process on many Windows servers. How exactly do we use Actions to make the service or process restart if it goes down on a Windows server. The help page on the subject of Actions is quite vague. It refers to using web hooks to perform the Actions on the server. Does this mean that as a Site24x7 customer, we are required to hire a developer to construct a web hook that the
